In 2001, Dave and Jen Giorno started The Fence Guys. Dave had been installing fences since he was a teenager, and Jen had some business chops. They both had a pretty burning desire to be their own boss and see what they could do. They did well. By 2008 they had all the work they could handle, running six crews a day out of their 10,000 square foot facility in Montgomeryville, PA, and having a ball. Then… life happened.
Jen got sick. Real sick. It was cancer. For two years Jen and Dave did everything they could to keep Jen’s illness at bay, hoping a miracle would happen.
Jen died on April 3, 2010. Alone, with three kids to care for, a business wracked by two years of distraction of the kind that only cancer can bring, and our nation’s economy melting down, Dave needed help.
A company that Dave had helped establish in 1996 had been suggesting a merger of the two companies. The economic crisis of 2010 had been hard on them, too. The merger happened, and The Fence Guys name went away.
